song exploication

The Hush Sound- "We Intertwined" In a field outside of town we could always be alone Carry a blanket maybe a basket - and that's it Innocence was the key I was locked up never free Until you turned me Like vines we intertwined (like vines we intertwined) Carelessly growing up and growing old Life was on our tongues (on our tongues) And it tasted heavenly so good I wake up and I feel alone I was just asleep Right where I belong Inside this sad, sad song I knew this was a dream it was too good to be true Coincidences were a bit much too Who wants to wake up? Who wants to lose it? Who wants to live in this place? I don't, so I'll be sleeping in Like vines we intertwined (like vines we intertwined) Carelessly growing up and growing old Life was on our tongues (on our tongues) It tasted heavenly so good I wake up and I feel alone I was just asleep Right where I belong Inside this sad, sad song Blankets here keep me from cold Holding tightly my pillows Frantically searching for her Inside my head she's somewhere She is somewhere I wake up and I feel alone I was just asleep Right where I belong Inside this sad, sad song I wake up and I feel alone I was just asleep Right where I belong Inside this sad, sad, sad song In The Hush Sounds “We Intertwined”, the title reveals that the song is going to be about two things or people who are ultimately woven together. It could be two converging souls intertwining, then continuing on their separate paths, or staying together. The first lines convey an image of two people, assumingly lovers, who are on a date in a park who have brought a picnic with them and here in this special place they can be alone. The singer reveals that before this girl he was “innocent” to what love truly was. Before he was open to it, it was as if he “was locked up, never free”, until the girl set him free. The chorus then goes on to say how “like vines we intertwined”; it is in the past tense, allowing the reader to know that what the speaker is describing has ceased to happen. They wove together like vines in a tight grip, “growing up and growing old”. The relationship between the speaker and his love is strong and true. They grew together and raised each other up. “Life was on our tongues, it tasted heavenly so good”. The two had a great relationship, enjoying life and savoring it; however, this foreshadows how the girl will soon be tasting heaven. In the next part of the chorus the speaker reveals that he was simply dreaming: I wake up and I feel alone I was just asleep Right where I belong Inside this sad, sad song The speakers’ girlfriend at one point had passed away and now the only time he can revisit her is in his dreams. This is the only place where he is happy and when he wakes up he feels like he is alone, and in his dreams with his love is where he belongs. Blankets here keep me from cold Holding tightly my pillows Lying in his bed he is kept warm holding tightly to his pillows trying to numb his pain and move on. This connotes that the speaker covers himself in layers trying to not face the reality, holding tight onto his “pillows” or things that allow him to dream of his love, or anything that reminds him of her. He is “frantically searching for her”, and trying not to lose her in memory and hold onto everything he has of her. He finds her only in his mind though, not in reality anymore. Another way to interpret this is that he has surmised the perfect girl and only sees her in his dreams, and is saddened every time he wakes because he believes he will never find her. She is a conjured image of what the speaker believes to be his ideal. The song sounds bubbly and bounces around which is ironic to the true meaning of the song. The writer probably hides his emotions behind a bubbly bouncy attitude when in reality he is trapped “inside this sad, sad song”. When the title is analyzed again, “We intertwined” has a deeper meaning. It is associated with a relationship that can only be visited in the speakers’ dreams. This is where he is now happy, and can’t seem to take his happiness out of his subconscious and into reality, in order to move past this woman he is doting over, and ultimately dragging through life, only to be with her, to wait for his next dream.

Roundel

In order to love, you need to trust
but many times its the hardest to do.
You cant help but wonder is he true?
ignoring these toughts is a must.

Feelings and emotions hit like a gust
you want to be accepeted so badly by his crew
in order to love, you need to trust
but many times its the hardest to do.

You must believe he wont give in to lust
or leave you for someone fresh and new
but hey, you can find a better boo
when your relationship starts to rust!
In order to love, you need to trust
but many times its the hardest to do.

Found Poem

The true essence of happiness radiates through my veins
I can feel it pulsing in my blood like a live heartbeat
My heart a rose quartz in motion,
a pumping flash of fuchsia.
This voodoo spell that has been put on me
makes you my one man show
my one in the black calvin klein suit
coming to take me beyond the horizon
above the luminous moon.
The live jazz continues on in the background
a contridiction to the gentle humming in my ears.
The dark lights brighten revealing a dazzling smile
that fills me with tangerine joy.
My poise needs recovery,
that voice as enticing as coolwater
sends me sliding down silver ice,
away and away into all of aqua chrome and blue.
Everything is a dream, and yet the fairy peach skin is so real.
This is my sterling silver rose
Forever preserved in my mermaids chest
essential for my being.
They think i'm only a waitress,
but to him i can be so much more.

Poem

One of the most vivid memories I recall is that of a midsummer night in the city of Hollywood in Miami. Sitting outside on my balcony soaring high above the city, I can see for miles ahead of me. The city stretched out like a map, no street hidden from my view. Down below me, cars whirry by, their lights resplendent at this height. I put a blanket over my chilled legs taking in the nonpareil view of Miami at night. The serene atmosphere put me in ebullience as I looked out on the pulchritudinous scene. A redolence wafted to my nose titillating my senses and I turned to see where the ambrosial was coming from. Tepid white chocolate chip macadamia nut cookies, along with coffee were being served to the inhabitants of the top balcony. I served myself and returned to my seat overlooking the city, enjoying my snack and listening to the noises of city life. One particular sound drifted to my ears and enwrapped my body in comfort: the soothing rush of the ocean behind the hotel gently pushing against the shore. As if in a dream I looked up to the night sky, unraveled in all its glory, and saw millions of stars scintillating and shining down on me in my place of comfort and peace.

Music Essay: Rascal Flatts

Gary LeVox, Jay DeMarcus and Joe Don Rooney have scaled unbelievable heights in the eight years since their debut, and they find their fortunes still rising with their band Rascal Flatts. For proof, their CD's first #1 single, "Take Me There," their fastest-rising ever. They were the top-selling artist of 2006--in all genres of music. They scanned five million units, meaning that 1 of every 14 country CDs sold last year was a Rascal Flatts record. Their last CD, Me And My Gang, sold more than 721,000 copies in its first week, leading the band to become the top-selling artist in all of music, the first time in 15 years a country artist achieved that milestone. Their 2006 tour played to over 1 million fans in 74 cities, 61 of those appearances sellouts. Rascal Flatts has also become one of the most consistently awarded acts in history, with their 2007 ACM Vocal Group of the Year award, their fifth, tying them with all-time super-group Alabama for most consecutive wins in that category.
They are creating music that is both as exhilarating as it is distinctive, with high harmonies and feel-good grooves. They deal with the gamut of human emotion, and the cumulative feel of a Rascal Flatts record is life-affirming. Rolling Stones says “These buffett-style party boys know what makes them the biggest group alive: songs about trucks and songs about girls.” It is impossible to pinpoint just one element that makes Rascal Flatts' music so special. "We just really jelled because of our influences; pop, RandB, country, gospel, bluegrass roots," says Joe Don. "We've always liked to try to be different, even if we were just playing at some little dive," Jay explains. "When someone listens to Rascal Flatts, they're going to hear a lot of harmony, a lot of funkiness because we love to groove. It's so encouraging for us to see country music going more that direction." "We felt like Lyric Street really had a great grasp on the way that country music was going with SHeDAISY," Gary continues, "and from the beginning we felt like we wanted to be there because of that." And Lyric Street has the power of Disney behind them," adds Jay, "which is really exciting."Rascal Flatts is the perfect New Millennium group signed to the most forward-looking new label in Nashville. Rascal Flatts influences other country singers today to transcend beyond the genre of country and break barriers into other genres such as pop. Artists such as Carrie Underwood, Lady Antebellum, and Gretchen Wilson have also accomplished what Rascal Flatts has done by appearing on radio stations that are not mainstream country, and rather play pop or hip-hop.
They were deeply influenced by musical family roots that stretch back to the beginnings of country music itself, and they were influenced by music-making parents and siblings that passed on the contemporary country influences of the latter part of the century. Gary and Jay were second cousins from a musical family. Jay took his voice and instrumental skills to Nashville in 1992, earning his first record deal as part of a Christian group called East to West. In 1997, he convinced a reluctant Gary to leave behind his job with the Ohio Department of Mental Retardation and follow his musical dreams as well. Jay landed a gig in Chely Wright's band, and there he met Joe Don, who had begun his career in Picher, Oklahoma. Jay and Gary were working in a Printer's Alley nightclub, and when their part-time guitarist couldn't make it one night, so Jay invited Joe Don to sit in. They recorded some demos, which caught the favorable attention of Lyric Street Senior VP of A&R Doug Howard and led to musical history. Growing up in Picher, Oklahoma, Joe Don Rooney's musical influences first came from his brother and sisters. "They were all into music when I was growing up so I went through a lot of different musical genres," Joe Don explains. But he got his mainstream country experience in Grove, OK. "There was a show called the Grand Lake Opry, believe it or not. Kind of like the Grand Ole Opry. It was really cool. When I was nineteen I worked there and every month we'd have a Grand Ole Opry star from Nashville, like Porter Wagoner, Connie Smith and Merle Haggard, come down to sing and perform." Since, they have played the Opry, appeared on the soundtrack of CARS by recording the song “Life Is A Highway,” which became one of 2006’s most digitally downloaded tunes and also a multi-award nominated song. Most recently, they did a fiery cover of the Beatles' "Revolution" for the Evan Almighty soundtrack. All have settled into happy married life--Gary has two daughters, Brittany, 7, and Brooklyn, 3--and all are committed to sharing their good fortune. They also donate to charity, to name just one charity, they have donated $1.4 million to the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt. What Jay, Gary and Joe Don have done is add all their individual influences and creativity to a potent, new musical brew seasoned by all that made country music great in the 20th Century, yet is immediately as fresh and exciting as the 21st Century.

Fast Cars and Freedom by Rascal Flatts

Starin' at you takin' off your makeup
Wondering why you even put it on
I know you think you do but baby you don't need it
Wish that you could see what I see it when it's gone
I see a dust trail following an old red Nova
Baby blue eyes, your head on my shoulder

[Chorus:]
Wait, baby don't move, right there it is
T-shirt hanging off a Dogwood Branch
That river was cold but we gave love a chance
Yeah, yeah for me
You don't look a day over Fast Cars and Freedom
That sunset river bank first time feeling

Yeah, smile and shake your head as if you don't believe me
I'll just sit right here and let you take me back
I'm on that gravel road, look at me
On my way to pick you up you're standing on the front porch
Looking just like that remember that
I see a dust trail following an old red Nova
Baby blue eyes, your head on my shoulder

[Chorus]
I see a dust trail following an old red Nova
Baby blue eyes, your head on my shoulder
You don't look a day over Fast Cars and Freedom
That sunset river bank first time feeling

Dramatic Monologue

I don’t care what you say
I realize it’s my fault anyways
Sure I told Tiny that Willie was sleeping with Anne
But he didn’t have to go tell Adam, what a stupid man.
I guess it all happened in a fit of rage and fury
That I let that bit of information slip that should have buried.
The events that followed were upsetting and tragic
And quicker than I knew it the old times disappeared like magic.
Through my jealousy and thoughtless acts
I lost the man I love and have to face the facts
I couldn’t live with myself any more
So I checked into this place and haven’t left since I first came through the door
Now as I sit in this clean quiet place
I can think to myself and not have reporters jumping in my face.
All I want now is to be left alone and to have my conscience at rest,
But Willies face appears in my thoughts and doesn’t leave, like a pest.
Now, I have a right to be upset and mad
After all I helped Willie achieve, he should never have hurt me so bad.
I guess you could say he had it comin
And he should have known if he double crossed me he should be runnin.
I gave him the connections and kept him on track
And never once did I stab him in the back.
I worked long hours and stayed by his side
And working for him and being around him filled me with pride.
I loved him even though there were others in his life
And I don’t mean just Anne, but more women then even his own wife.
We often fought over those other girls he slept with
But he reassured me he didn’t love them and it was no myth.
Unfortunately I was another one of his fools
He played me like a card and used me like a tool.
Working as his secretary I believed only brought us closer
So it shocked me when he left me for his wife, who’s a poser.
But now I see I was an advantage for him to have and use
I don’t know if he ever loved me but he knows I’m vulnerable, and that he abused.
I know one thing for sure I would’ve made a damn good wife for him
And would’ve supported him and assisted him ‘til the lights went dim
Lucy’s not tough like me or strong enough to support the king
But I could’ve done it all, and carried his ring.
I will always remember that I made him what he was
Without me he’d be another voice in the crowd, another hum in the buzz.
I think Willie was an incredible man even though he is dead,
And he could’ve been great if he had only listened to what I said.
I knew these affairs would come back to haunt him
But he couldn’t stay away from the temptations that were beautiful and slim.
I may not be the best looking or dress the best or most fashionable way
But the way I worked made up for it and brought us the pay!
So now I remain here thinkin and sittin
Smoking my cigarette thinkin how things could’ve been different…

My message is The Sun will rise tomorrow, so stop freaking out. I combined pictures of relaxing places along with pictures of people who were happy, or funny images, that tended to be bright or have calming colors. This will entrance the viewer, making them more relaxed and happy and hopefully they get a good chuckle out of one or more of the images in the video. The music in the background is "Here comes the Sun" by the Beatles, and it too is sending a message across to the audience that everyhting will be okay, for the sun is a symbol of light and hope, and it is rising. People worry about the little things in life too often, or stress and/or worry about their own problems all the time. Life's too short to dwell constantly on the negative, people need to let things go sometimes and be happy with what they have. My message puts peoples worries and troubles into another prospective, making them seem minimal because ultimately, you're still living and the sun will rise again tomorrow, and you get to see it, so stop freaking out!
